I pray not any of us would miss the call to “take up the charge,” if we should be called to do so. Whether it be that of being set over our household, a corporation, organization, congregation/church, city, or nation, I pray that we would not shirk from the responsibility.

Make us to hear and to know; make it so clear that we cannot miss it, and grip our hearts to do Your will and may we be bound to obedience, for “If I  will walk in Your ways and keep Your charge, then You will use me to bring justice to my household/church group/whatever the case may be; I will  watch over Your courts and be given assignments to do regarding ones You place in my pathway” (Zech.3:7). At the same time, grant me the discernment to know if the “call” is not from YOU, Lord.

Just as Elisha picked up Elijah’s mantle (2 Kings 2:13,14), may I walk in the mantle of my mentor, leader, teacher, or whomever You have chosen for me to follow, just as Timothy did from Paul, and whose work I may be called to continue.

Make me not only willing, but eager to pick up the torch, whether “it is convenient or inconvenient” (2 Tim.4:1,2). Just as when Paul directs Timothy (Tim.1:18) to be prepared to deal with situations of conflict, false teachings, and backsliding, etc., when he says: “Confront, rebuke, encourage—with complete patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not put up with sound instruction, but they will pile up for themselves teachers in keeping with their own desires, to have their ears tickled” (2 Tim.4:2,3), I must be prepared to stand up and fight for truth & justice.

Give me the humility, courage, boldness, and perseverance that Esther employed.

Move in me now, Holy Spirit, that I will step up to the plate and take the charge of what You place before me, taking up my Cross daily, in denial of fleshly self, and following in the footsteps of Jesus/Yeshua (Lk.9:23). In Your Holy and Precious Name. Amen.
