PRAYER GUIDE, “RESPONSE TO COVID”  19.02.20

Guide and lead us by Your Holy Spirit, Lord, & bring us peace throughout this critical period. I pray for Your Presence to preside over each one of Yours; that there would be a spirit of calm and a sound mind “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline/sound mind” (2 Tim.1:7). And strengthen hearts and minds – prepare Your people, for we know this “is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come” (Matt.24:8).

I ask You, Lord, to convict Your leaders in the believing communities that this is not a time to focus on criticism and judgments making accusations, either against one another within the body, nor against Government officials, as they try their best to pull our nation through this mess. Open the eyes of the critics to realize that this was not created by any nation or leader; this was an event affecting everyone, from which there is no single source of blame. Open the eyes of the critics, also – and cast away those critical spirits – that fail to realize there is no magic quick fix; that, yes, of course, we can each bring the matter to YOU; and beyond that, we can only follow common sense and use good judgment by not putting ourselves and/or others at risk, reducing the spread, and shortening the time that this will remain with us.

I pray the time of this viral infestation will be shortened, before it can cripple our nation financially beyond repair. Make provision for people during this time, especially those who will be affected by job losses, facing financial crisis, including the threat of losing homes, businesses, etc. because there is no money for mortgage payments, etc. Bring relief financially; make provision for Your people. I pray that the promises for financial assistance that our Governments, both Federal and Provincial are making, will be possible for them to keep. I pray that if this is shortened, our nation’s economy can be restored.

I ask for Your healing touch on those who are affected physically; I pray they will be spared from the pneumatic symptoms, for it is the ones with acute breathing issues that are under threat. I pray for the aging population and those who have a history of respiratory weakness, may they be kept safe through this time. Show each one the best way of being throughout this time; and let each one rest in calm and peace, knowing that You are at the helm.

Grip the hearts of those who dwell in fear, and call them to Your Peace. Bring your people to a place of calm, and good old-fashioned common sense. Just as Proverbs states, this is a time where more than ever, we need self-control, common sense, discernment, and wisdom. Thank-You, Father, that You grant us Wisdom from Your Word (Prov.2:6-11), that You are our shield when we walk in integrity; that You guard the pathway and protect those of us who are faithful to You. Thank-You, Lord that when I submit to Your Word, wisdom fills my heart, bringing me to make wise choices.

Strengthen our economy and grant our leaders wisdom to make right decisions to avoid economic disaster. Strengthen our faith to not panic at the downward spiral of all our investments, properties, etc., for just like Paul, even if the ship goes down, we can know that after being stuck on the island for a time there will be renewed resources (Acts 27); we can take courage and believe that it will be just as Your Word promises; You will make a way where there seems to be no way, for we are Your people, and You are our God.

We pray these things in the Name of Jesus/Yeshua Ha-Mashiach. Amen.
