PROVERBS 9:9

PROVERBS 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

IT’S ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE AND PERSPECTIVE.

THOSE WHO THINK THEY KNOW EVERYTHING, SCOFF AT ANY ADVICE. BECAUSE THEY HAVE A “KNOW-IT-ALL” ATTITUDE, THEY ARE CLOSED-MINDED, AND WILL NOT GROW BEYOND THAT WHICH THEY KNOW.

THOSE WHO HAVE AN ATTITUDE OF ACCEPTANCE, WHO ARE WISE ENOUGH TO KNOW THEY DO NOT KNOW EVERYTHING, DESIRE TO KNOW MORE, TO HAVE WISDOM, AND ARE THUS MORE OPEN-MINDED, OPEN TO NEW LEARNINGS, AND THUS WILL LEARN MORE. A FAIR MINDED PERSON, A PERSON WHO DESIRES WISDOM, AND AN INDIVIDUAL WHO DOES NOT CONSIDER THEMSELVES ABOVE RECEIVING INSTRUCTION, THESE ARE THE ONES WHO WILL BECOME WISER AND GROW BEYOND WHO THEY ARE.

IF WE WANT TO LEARN AND GROW, WE MUST HAVE AN ATTITUDE OF HUMILITY; WE MUST REMAIN HUMBLE IN ORDER TO BE TEACHABLE. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, HOWEVER, IS THE REALIZATION THAT THE ONLY TRUE WISDOM IS THE WISDOM THAT COMES FROM GOD. 1 CORINTHIANS 2:11-16 HAS MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THIS.
