STUDY GUIDE:  PRAYER LESSONS, PSALM 119, 06.02.20

STUDY GUIDE PSALM 119:33-56

  1. SELECT a set of ACTIVE VERBS from the passages studied.
  2. Identify the behaviours that seem to result from the ACTIVE VERBS.
  3. CONNECT THE DOTS FROM ACTIVE VERBS > SURRENDER
  4. How would you DEFINE  the primary focus of Psalm 119? Is it (a) focusing on the goodness of God’s laws, (b) focusing on God’s Ways, © focusing on God’s Word – exhorting God’s Word,  (d) teaching to meditate upon God’s Word; (e) all of the above.
  5. Locate a passage/set of passages in the New Testament that mirrors this focus.
  6. Select at least three passages from this set of Scripture that demonstrate total dependence on God/total surrender/total trust.
  7. PRACTICE using these types of ACTIVE VERBS in your own prayers.  Assemble a personally meaningful prayer implementing active verbs such as “Teach me,” “Give me,” “Make me,” “Revive me,” found repeatedly throughout this Psalm. These are strong action verbs which are intentional towards surrender and a passionate desire to do things God’s way. Put them to work in your daily prayers and watch your prayer time take on a life of its own.
