“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness” (Jer.31:2). Yahweh never gave up on His people, even when they were disobedient, honouring pagan gods, being unfaithful. … ..  Yahweh was angry, gave them many warnings, and they were disciplined many times; but He

never stopped caring about His people. The same principle holds true today, and is true for ALL believers. God loves us with an unchanging love.

God’s heart is that all would come to Him, believe in Him, follow Him: “He desires all men to be saved and come into the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim.2:4); but since humans have been granted free will, He knows people will rebel for the most part; only a remnant will enter into covenant with Him. His heart must be breaking at the rejection, just as when Yeshua said: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” (Matt.23:37).

Yeshua came to earth as an expression of the Father’s heart. His death on the Cross was a full expression of

His love for humanity, on behalf of the Father, as well as His own passion. Only the Father’s own love for human beings could have sent His own Son to die a torturous death of crucifixion; and only an obedient Son with a passion to do His Father’s will could have carried it out.  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16) – says it all. “The love of God was revealed among us by this—that God sent His one and only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. This is love—not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atonement for our sins” (1 John 4:8-10).

So we know God loves us. Now what about the other side of the coin – our love for Him. .. … Do we only want a Valentine from Him; or do we also want to send our love to Him?

“Love Adonai your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These words, which I am commanding you today, are to be on your heart” (Deut.6:5,6). If all those who call themselves Christians actually lived this out, the Church wouldn’t be so weak today. If every believer actually put God first in all they did every hour of every day, wouldn’t we have a different world?!!  Perhaps God’s people would at least be united. I bet there wouldn’t be so many denominations. . . ..  “Loved ones, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. . . . ..   If we love one another, God abides in us and His love is made perfect in us.  So we have come to know and trust in the love that God has for us. God is love. Now whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him”(1 John 4:11,12,16).

God wants to be FIRST in our lives. He wants us to have a passion for Him, just as His Son had a passion to bring us to Himself through His death on the Cross. Why else would He have said, as He chastised the church of Ephesus, “But this I have against you, that you have forsaken your first love” (Rev.2:4)? Yes, He wants to have first place in our hearts, in our lives. . … .  and why shouldn’t He? After all, He sacrificed Himself for us!

Let us show our love to the Lord today, by putting Him first. How do we put Him first? For starters, begin each day with Him as the first One on your mind, instead of all the petty trivia that likely presides. Start each day by telling Him that you love Him. Start each day by spending time with Him – in prayer, in His Word, in worship. Another way we communicate our love is by relying on Him totally in everything we do, surrendering every aspect of self and life to Him. That means we go to Him first – not last – when we are troubled, have questions – instead of consulting with everyone we can think of, before going to Him, we depend on HIM. That means being obedient and listening when He is speaking to us, not brushing Him aside, and doing what we want. We honour God, and demonstrate our love for Him through living by His Word; that means keeping all His commandments, which includes living righteous, holy lives, set apart unto Him. We put Him first when we stand on His laws, principles, precepts, refusing to compromise by living with one foot in the world. Trusting in Him/His Word; delighting in Him – these are things which please the Lord. Remember, Yeshua said: “I do only those things that please the Father. . . .” (John 8:29). Doing only those things that please Him demonstrate our love for Him. Total dependence, surrender, and obedience to EACH and EVERY SINGLE THING He directs you to do – by this He determines your true status of love for Him.

Here is the heart of Yeshua: “that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them as You loved Me. Father, I also want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am . . . . . . You loved Me before the foundation of the world  . . . . . .  so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them”

(John 17:23-26). Yeshua so desires His followers to be one with Him and the Father, and with one another. So doing that would be an expression of our love for Him/the Father. That oneness; that intimacy; that unity Yeshua has with His Father; that is what His heart desires for His people. Wouldn’t it be an amazing manifestation of our love for Him, if all His people were actually able to live out the ultimate commandments, “You shall love Adonai your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire Torah and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matt.22:37-40). Living those commandments out would automatically include obedience to whatever He instructed you to do. “Loved ones, let us love one another, for love is from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love” (1 John 4:7,8).

How about starting today, by saying “HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!” to God the Son, God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit, telling Him you love Him? Make HIM your VALENTINE  this year, and for all time, for in addition to being your Saviour and Father, “your Maker is your husband—Adonai-Tzva’ot is His Name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He will be called God of all the earth” (Isa.54:5).

If you begin each day by telling Him you love Him, you will definitely experience a higher level of HIS love in your heart, and upon the expansion of your love for Him, will flow the ability to love others more fully. Your relationship with Him will become more intimate and meaningful, and there will be blessings you would not even think to ask for.

May the Lord God bless you with His love; and He will bless you yet again, upon the reciprocation of your love for Him. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY, in the love of Yeshua Messiah.
