I CORINTHIANS 10:12

I CORINTHIANS 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

PUTTING THIS PASSAGE IN CONTEXT REQUIRES A TRIP BACK TO OLD TESTAMENT DAYS.

PAUL WAS REMINDING THE DISCIPLES OF HOW THE ISRAELITES MADE IT THROUGH THE WILDERNESS (AND HOW THAT MANY DIDN’T). FOR MANY COMPLAINED AND MANY WERE ELIMINATED BEFORE THEY MADE THEIR DESTINATION.

JUST WHEN WE THINK WE’VE GOT IT ALL TOGETHER, & WE KNOW WHAT WE’RE DOING, WE WILL BE TESTED. IF WE DON’T TEND TO THE THINGS IN GOD’S WORD, THE THINGS WE’VE BEEN TAUGHT; IF WE DON’T WALK IN THAT WHICH WE KNOW; IF WE THINK WE CAN HANDLE EVERYTHING ON OUR OWN, THAT IS WHEN WE WILL GET BROAD-SIDED.

WE MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER, AS PAUL SAYS IN EPH. 6, THAT WE MUST DO ALL, IN ORDER TO STAND.  DOING “ALL”  MEANS HAVING ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GODWALKING IN IT; THAT, IN TURN, MEANS SURRENDER, DEATH OF SELF, & TOTAL DEPENDENCE ON GOD, NOT ON SELF/FLESH.

IF YOU THINK YOU “HAVE IT ALL TOGETHER” & CAN STAND ON YOUR OWN, GET READY FOR A FALL!
