JOSHUA 1:9

JOSHUA 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

JOSHUA HAD JUST BEEN GIVEN THE COMMISSION FROM YAHWEH TO TAKE UP THE CHARGE AS MOSES’ REPLACEMENT. HE WOULD NOW BE THE LEADER OF THE HEBREW PEOPLE, AND THE ONE TO LEAD THEM INTO THE PROMISED LAND.

SO GOD WAS REASSURING HIM THAT JUST AS HE HAD BEEN WITH MOSES, SO HE WOULD NOW BE WITH JOSHUA; THEREFORE, HE NEED NOT FEAR ANYTHING/ANYONE.

CAN ALL GOD’S PEOPLE CLAIM THIS?

IT DEPENDS ON THE CIRCUMSTANCE, AND WHETHER OR NOT GOD HAS COMMISSIONED THE INDIVIDUAL, AGENCY, ORGANIZATION, OR INSTITUTION TO TAKE UP THE CHARGE ON A GIVEN TASK, UNDERTAKING, OR ASSIGNMENT.

GOD SPECIFICALLY GAVE THIS ASSIGNMENT TO JOSHUA, JUST AS HE HAD PREVIOUSLY GIVEN IT TO MOSES. WHEN A SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT HAS BEEN GIVEN, OR PARTICULAR MISSION COMMISSIONED, THEN GOD’S “ANOINTING” IS UPON THAT INDIVIDUAL, ORGANIZATION, INSTITUTION, OR WHATEVER IT IS. IF GOD ALMIGHTY HIMSELF HAS SENT SOMEONE, THEN THAT SOMEONE, WHOEVER/WHATEVER IT IS CAN BE SURE THAT GOD IS WITH THEM; BUT IF GOD HIMSELF DID NOT DISPATCH, OR ORDAIN THAT CHARGE, IT WOULD BE VERY UNWISE TO CLAIM, DECLARE

WE NEED TO BE AS MOSES, IN EXODUS 33:15,16, and SAY, “IF YOUR PRESENCE IS NOT WITH ME, I’M NOT GOING.”  HIS PROMISES ARE MOST OFTEN CONDITIONAL TO HIS INSTRUCTIONS AND/OR OUR OBEDIENCE. IF HE DIDN’T TELL YOU TO GO, I WOULDN’T BE DOING IT!  IF HE DIDN’T ORDAIN IT, I WOUDLN’T “CLAIM” IT.
