WHAT JESUS/YESHUA SAID ABOUT THE “LAST DAYS,”  03.01.20

When the disciples asked Jesus/Yeshua “What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?” (Matt.24:3), His answer was unclear to them and not what they wanted to hear.

Instead of providing a direct, concise answer, He proceeded to outline a number of events that must occur during the last days, prior to His ultimate return. In addition to that, He made it clear that no one would ever be given the time, day, or date when He would actually physically return: “no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows” (Matt.24:36). He emphasized that, because no one will know the exact date, His people need to be ever-at-the-ready; to live as though each day may be The Day

MARK 13:

32 “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.

33 And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!

34 “The coming of the Son of Man can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. When he left home, he gave each of his slaves instructions about the work they were to do, and he told the gatekeeper to watch for his return.

35 You, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know when the master of the household will return—in the evening, at midnight, before dawn, or at daybreak.

36 Don’t let him find you sleeping when he arrives without warning.

37 I say to you what I say to everyone: Watch for him!”

LUKE 21:

34 “Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware,

35 like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth.

36 Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.”

He even went so far as to outline some of the details of the outcome of His return, leaving the disciples’ most urgent question unanswered.

Let us look now at some of the things Jesus/Yeshua said about those Last Days, for He did say “See, I have warned you about this ahead of time,” (Matt.24:25), and this He did in order that His followers might walk in a perpetual state of readiness.

MATTHEW 24:

5 for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many.

6 And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately.

7 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world.

8 But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.

9 “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers.

10 And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other.

11 And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.

12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.

13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.

15 “The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about—the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the Holy Place.”

21 For there will be greater anguish (**KJV uses the term “TRIBULATION”)than at any time since the world began. And it will never be so great again.

22 In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.

23 “Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it.

24 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones.

LUKE 21:

12 “But before all this occurs, there will be a time of great persecution. You will be dragged into synagogues and prisons, and you will stand trial before kings and governors because you are my followers.

13 But this will be your opportunity to tell them about me.

16 Even those closest to you—your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends—will betray you. They will even kill some of you.

17 And everyone will hate you because you are my followers.

20 “And when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that the time of its destruction has arrived.

25 “And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides.

26 People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

27 Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory.

28 So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!”

MARK 13:

24 “At that time, after the anguish of those days,

the sun will be darkened,

the moon will give no light,

25 the stars will fall from the sky,

and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

26 Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds with great power and glory.

27 And he will send out his angels to gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.

Many of God’s people try to set dates today; many have come and gone only to be exposed/revealed as the work of false prophets. The closest Jesus/Yeshua came to giving us a date/time, is by giving us signs of the times, specifying that “when these things begin to happen, lift up your head and look up, for your redemption draws near” (Lk.21:28, KJV); and He stated clearly that it is the generation during which all these signs are occurring (Mk.13:30) that will live on to see the Great Tribulation play out, and His return, at the very end of that time.

God’s people would do well to focus on walking in the Word, living each day as though it were to be “The Great Day of the Lord,” as prophesied by Daniel (Dan.12:12) and Zephaniah (Zeph.1:14), rather than attempting to foresee the exact day/date/time. People of God, re-set your focus: get ready, and be prepared, for the Day of the Lord is at Hand.
