LUKE 18:14

LUKE 18:14
“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

IT HELPS TO PUT THIS IN CONTEXT BY REALIZING THAT THIS STATEMENT ENDS THE PARABLE OF THE PHARISEE AND THE TAX COLLECTOR.

WHILE THE TAX COLLECTOR WAS BEING VERY SMUG AND SELF-RIGHTEOUS, IN A STATE OF DENIAL AND FALSE HUMILITY, THE TAX COLLECTOR WAS BEING TRANSPARENT AND HONEST, HUMBLY ACKNOWLEDGING HIS SORRY SINFUL STATE.

JESUS/YESHUA SAYS “those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted,” AND HERE WE HAVE ANOTHER ONE OF GOD’S NUMEROUS PRINCIPLES TO LIVE BY.

WHEN WE WALK IN HUMILITY, HUMBLING OURSELVES IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD, HE WILL, IN HIS TIMING, EXALT US; HOWEVER, WHEN WE BECOME IMPATIENT AND PUSH AHEAD WITH OUR OWN AGENDA, THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES, THROUGH WHICH WE WILL BE HUMBLED. THERE ARE NO SHORT-CUTS IN FOLLOWING THE LORD. WE EITHER WAIT ON HIM, AND FOLLOW HIM, OR WE REBEL AGAINST HIS PRINCIPLES BY DOING THINGS OUR OWN WAY.
