1. You do not have to be David to apply the PRINCIPLE in this prayer to your own life. i.e., you do not have to be “building a house” – the principles apply to your life.
  2. In verse 23, when praying personally, simply apply the principle to your own self, family/household
  3. Consider what the Lord has done/is doing in your life/your household, whether involving children, parents, siblings, spouse, or the like; apply the principle accordingly.

**For the purposes of this STUDY, the application will be to intercession, but that does not mean it is limited to that end.

Father, I want that consistency in my walkconsistent obedience (Lev.26); and I want it to flow into my prayer life, bring stability & continuity throughout my walk with You.

Align my heart/mind, so that I am not just saying words that don’t mean anything to me. Give me that stability in my walk, enabling congruence and continuity between my beliefs and my actions, connecting it all together in prayer

I have purposed in my heart to pray in accordance with Your will; to make no more soulish prayer requests. Therefore I will pray into Your Word; my words will have power because they are Your Words that I speak/pray. Father release Your Power through my Words, as I speak Your Words, “that same power that You worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead” (Eph.1:20).  Release that Resurrection Power!

Just like David when he said: “Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?” (2 Sam.7:18), I say thank-You, Lord, for how You have watched over me, protected me, even through my wandering years, and brought me along this pathway of learning how to surrender and walk with You. I am so undeserving, and have done nothing to even earn my salvation or Your goodness, but You have been so generous and kind to me in so many ways, big & small. I am humbled by the fact that You would even bother with me, let alone pour Your many blessings upon me. Thank-You, Heavenly Father.

I am so blessed for the fact that You attend to these many details in my life; and while “this may be a small thing in Your sight, O Lord God,” (2 Sam.7:19-21) You have given/shown me so much more than I’ve even asked for, what can I say “For You, Lord God, know Your servant (you know what a mess You’ve brought me from). For Your word’s sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all these great things,” even in the way You make Yourself known to me. “You are great, O Lord God. For there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You,” (2 Sam.7:22) according to all that I’ve seen & heard You do, now as well from Your Word, as in ancient days.

Just as You have redeemed Your people Israel, so in accordance with that same principle, I pray for household salvation (2 Sam.7:23), that You will redeem, and deliver each stiff-necked member of my household from their carnal gods, from their rebellious ways, and hedonistic, selfish lustful lifestyles. In the same way that You can/will make “Your people Israel Your very own people forever,” (2 Sam.7:24), by Your Holy Spirit please call each one of my family members to You (John 6:44) so You will  become their God.

I pray, Lord God, “Your name be magnified forever,” (2 Sam.7:26) over this household, that all the household of ___________________ will be established in Christ Jesus/Yeshua Ha-Mashiach, “For You, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this truth to Your servant,” assuring me that just as You want all of Israel to belong to/follow You, so do You also want all humans to follow You; and because I am following You, I am called to stand in the gap (Ezek.13:5) for my household, and pray them into the Kingdom of God.  Through my prayers of intercession/standing in the gap, I “build my household” unto You, Lord (2 Sam.7:27). Because of Your wonderful promises  “Your servant has found it in my heart to pray this prayer to You. And now, O Lord God, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant. Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord God, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever” (2 Sam.7:28,29).

As I walk in ongoing obedience, intimacy, abiding in You, Father, and Your Words abiding in me (John 15), I pray in confidence in accordance with Your Word/Will, for I am “fully convinced that what Your Word promises You are also able to perform” (Rom.4:21). Thank-You, Heavenly Father. In Jesus/Yeshua’s Name, I pray. Amen.
