PRAYING SCRIPTURE, SET IV, 15.11.19

PRAYING FOR SALVATION, 15.11.19

Every true believer has either family, friends, both, or other individuals for whom they desire salvation. Some of us receive a strong call of intercession in this area; others are somewhat sporadic and seasonal; but every believer has someone at some point in time that they carry the burden of salvation for. It is always helpful to know how to pray.

For our purposes here, we will address the most basic/most common issue of prayer for salvation for loved ones or individuals the Lord has laid on their hearts.

This issue is a no-brainer, for we know that it is God’s desire for all to be saved. Jesus/Yeshua came to save, to redeem humankind. There is no need to cautiously tip-toe around the issues sanctioned by God’s Word. There is no need to ask if it is His Will; we should know that it is. Nevertheless, we will, for the sake of substantiation/making a point, and for the purposes of practicing prayer based on God’s Word, look at selected passages that demonstrate and provide direction for praying individuals, families, or communities into God’s Kingdom.

MATTHEW 4:

17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

MATTHEW 18:

11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.

12 “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?

13 And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.

14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

MARK 16:

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

LUKE 19:

9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham;

10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

JOHN 3:

15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

JOHN 4:

34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

JOHN 6:

44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

47 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.

JOHN 10:

9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more.

ACTS 11:

21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

II CORINTHIANS 6:2

Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

I TIMOTHY 2:

1Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,

4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

ISAIAH 42:

6 “I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness,

And will hold Your hand;

I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people,

As a light to the Gentiles,

7 To open blind eyes,

To bring out prisoners from the prison,

Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.

16 I will bring the blind by a way they did not know;

I will lead them in paths they have not known.

I will make darkness light before them,

And crooked places straight.

These things I will do for them,

And not forsake them.
