PRAYER GUIDE: “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO . . .,” 28.11.19
- IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE CONCEPT OF “PRAYING SCRIPTURES/GOD’S WORD,” PLEASE SEE THE SUMMARY TEACHING AT THE TOP OF PRAYER CORNER PAGE.
- QUOTED SCRIPTURES ARE PARAPHRASED FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING PERSONAL APPLICATION, NOT TO ALTER GOD’S WORD IN ANY WAY.
Father, bring Your people back to a place of righteousness, purity, and holy living. Guide us to that place where we will set ourselves apart for YOU.
“Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God”(2 Cor.7:1), for Yeshua said: “Sanctify them through Your truth; Your Word is truth” (John 17:17), and by that very Truth, make us, by the power of Your Holy Spirit within us, to submit to that process of sanctification, and walk in that “cleansing and washing of water by the word” (Eph. 5:26). Oh, how we all need that, in order to “continually walk before You and be blameless” (Gen.17:1). Holy Spirit, teach, guide, and train us to “abide in The word, so we may become true disciples of Yeshua, who will know the truth, and BE free!” (John 8:31,32). We want to be free from the perils of sin; free to entirely and wholly walk with You, IN Your very footsteps, doing as You did here on earth.
Where there is need for conviction, bring us to conviction. Bring us revelations that will convict us, that will bring us down on our knees/face before You in full heartfelt repentance, so we will turn from our wrong ways (John 8:11), just as Yeshua directed the woman caught in adultery. Make us to “Flee from sexual immorality,” for “every other sin that we commit is outside the body—but sexual immorality is a sin against our own body;” and “our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit; we are no longer our own, for we were bought with a price, and must therefore glorify God in our body in everything we do” (1 Cor.6:18-20, paraphrased for personal prayer). Put in our hearts the desire to “flee from” sin.
May we be ever grateful that “we were redeemed from the futile way of life” (I Pet. 1:18,19) that we were previously living; that by Your Holy Spirit we can follow in Your footsteps. Thank-You, Yeshua, that because of Your precious shed blood at the Cross, we can “purify our souls in obedience to the truth, leading to sincere brotherly love, and love one another fervently from a pure heart, for we have been born again—not from perishable seed but imperishable—through Your living and enduring Word” (I Pet. 2:21-23). Jesus/Yeshua, You were fully man, and fully God; yet You are able “to sympathize with our weaknesses, for You were tempted in all the same ways—yet without sin” (Heb. 4:15). We thank You for that amazing, incomparable sacrificial love.
Purge us and prune us now, of all love for the world, so we will “not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, and the boasting of life—is not from the Father but from the world. The world is passing away along with its desire, but the one who does the will of God abides forever” (I John 2:15-17). Convict, and bring us to full repentance so we will put to death all fleshly lusts and desires that are not of You. We want to be those “ambassadors for Messiah, as though You were making Your appeal through us” (2 Cor.5:20). May we live out that call to holiness, and be set apart to “live not unto ourselves, but unto You who died and rose again” (2 Cor.5:15), “For You did not call us to impurity, but holiness” (I Thess.4:7).
And we thank-You for Your mercy and grace that grants us immediate forgiveness upon sincere heartfelt repentance. Make us to desire to be always in right standing before You, that we truly may live lives that are set apart for You. In Jesus/Yeshua’s Name. Amen.
