Father, bring me to that place where I can truly love others as You love me/us, and as You have commanded me/us to (John 13:34,35), so that I may also walk in a spirit of forgiveness.

Forgive me, Father, for any bitterness, grudges, or anger I am carrying towards _____________ (name any individual, corporation, institution, etc. As it may apply), as I choose to forgive that person now, “For if I forgive men their trespasses, You will also forgive me. But if I do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will You forgive my trespasses” (Matt.6:12,14,15).

I want to honour Your commandments to forgive others (Matt.18:21,22); to even be able to love my enemies and do good to those who hate me, blessing them and not cursing them, praying for them instead (Lk.6:27,28).

Give me Your Heart, oh Lord, and enable me now to forgive _____________ (name any individual, institution, or entity, as it may apply for you/your life) for I want to walk in PEACE with all people (Heb.12:14). I do not want to hold this bitterness in my heart, and cause myself to “fall short of the grace of God; and allow bitter roots to spring up causing trouble, and others to be defiled” (Heb.12:15).

I choose, therefore, in accordance with Your Word, to forgive these ones that have hurt me – lied, gossiped, told rumours, slandered my name, made false accusations, etc. – and I will confess/repent of any bitterness in my heart, and forgive them before each occasion of holy communion (I Cor.11:29,30) “For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep,” and I want to prevent any such possible curses from coming upon myself. I choose to respond to the Holy Spirit’s conviction, taking responsibility for my own behaviour in order to avoid any need for Your chastening (I Cor.11:31,32).

I ask You, Father to bless ___________ (Rom.12:14); I pray You would open ____________’s eyes so they also would receive conviction, repent and forgive. My desire is to reconcile and live peaceably (Rom.12:18) with ______________, and with all people. I pray You will bring justice to this situation, as  “Vengeance is Yours,” (Rom.12:19); only YOU can repay. I will pursue forgiveness and reconciliation. I will attempt to “overcome evil with good” (Rom.12:20,21), and in so doing “heap coals of fire on his head.”

In Jesus/Yeshua’s Name, I pray these things. Amen.
