LUKE 1:49

LUKE 1:49
For He who is mighty has done great things for me,
And holy is His name.

MARY IS SINGING TO THE LORD, HAPPY, AND FEELING SO BLESSED.

THE ANGEL HAD VISITED HER TO REVEAL GOD’S PLAN. ALTHOUGH AT FIRST MARY HAD SOME QUESTIONS, SHE QUICKLY SUBMITTED AND SURRENDERED TO GOD’S PLAN; AND UPON DOING SO, REALIZED WHAT AN HONOUR AND PRIVILEGE THIS WAS, TO BE CALLED TO GIVE BIRTH TO GOD’S SON, SO SHE IS GIVING HIM ALL THE GLORY.

MANY OF US IN HER POSITION WOULD HAVE BEEN HORRIFIED, TERRIFIED, WANTING TO ESCAPE. THE SOCIAL REPERCUSSIONS, AND POSSIBLE RISKS WERE GREAT; BUT MARY SAW GOD’S HAND UPON HER; AND INSTEAD OF BEING TERRIFIED, FELT BLESSED.

WHEN GOD GIVES US AN ASSIGNMENT, WE OFTEN FEEL PANIC-STRICKEN, INADEQUATE, AND TRY TO FIND A WAY OUT. WE WOULD DO BETTER TO ASSUME MARY’S MINDSET – AN ATTITUDE OF TRUST & DEPENDENCY ON THE LORD – AND SUBMIT TO GOD’S PLAN, WHATEVER IT IS. REMEMBER, HE DOESN’T CALL US TO ANYTHING, AND THEN LEAVE US ON OUR OWN. NEITHER DOES HE CALL US TO SOMETHING AND NOT EQUIP US FOR IT.
