I CORINTHIANS 4:7

I CORINTHIANS 4:7
For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

I CORINTHIANS 4 IS ABOUT THE DEVALUATION OF SELF IN ORDER TO GIVE ALL CREDIT TO THE LORD. WE ARE AMBASSADORS AND SERVANTS OF THE LIVING GOD, AND WE NEED TO KEEP THIS ROLE IN THE FOREFRONT OF OUR MINDS.

THERE IS NO PLACE FOR SELF-GLORIFICATION IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD. ALL GLORY GOES TO THE KING.

THIS IS WHY PAUL IS LECTURING HIS PEOPLE TO NOT THINK OF ONE’S SELF AS BETTER THAN ANOTHER; AND TO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR WHATEVER GIFTS ONE HAS BEEN GIVEN, THE POINT BEING THAT WHATEVER WE HAVE WAS GIVEN TO US. SO IF WHAT WAS GIVEN TO US HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING WE DID, WE HAVE NOTHING TO BOAST ABOUT.

FOLKS, WHATEVER WE HAVE WAS MERELY GIVEN TO US BY GOD’S GRACE. WHENEVER WE CATCH OURSELVES REVELLING IN WHAT WE HAVE DONE, WHAT WE HAVE, ETC. WE NEED TO STOP AND TAKE STOCK: REMEMBER EVERYTHING GOOD (GIFTS) COMES FROM GOD (JAMES 1:17).
