I SAMUEL 12:16

1 Sam. 12:16
“Now therefore, stand and see this great thing which the Lord will do before your eyes:”

SAMUEL HAD JUST ADMONISHED THE ISRAELITES FOR HAVING DEMANDED TO HAVE A KING OVER THEM, JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER HEATHEN NATIONS.

SAMUEL WAS SPEAKING OF THE DISPLEASURE ON GOD’S PART FOR HAVING REJECTED ADONAI AS THEIR KING, AND HIS WARNING WAS THAT GOD WOULD THEREFORE GIVE THEM A MANIFESTATION OF HIS POWER AND PUT THEM IN THEIR PLACE.

THE LORD SENT THUNDER & RAIN FOR THEIR WHEAT HARVEST TO PUT THE FEAR OF GOD IN THEM, AS A WARNING THAT IF THEY WOULD NOT HONOUR HIM AND FOLLOW HIM THERE WOULD BE CONSEQUENCES; BUT IF THEY WOULD FOLLOW HIS COMMANDMENTS AND HONOUR HIS WAYS, HE WOULD PROTECT THEM & MAKE PROVISION FOR THEM.

AN IMPORTANT PRINCIPLE LIES WITHIN THIS OCCURRENCE. IT HAS APPLICATION FOR US THIS DAY, AS WELL. WHEN WE WHINE, COMPLAIN, & DEMAND OUR OWN WAY, REBELLING AGAINST GOD’S WAY, WHILE STILL EXPECTING ALL TO GO WELL, IT WILL NOT NECESSARILY WORK IN OUR FAVOUR. FOR WHEN GOD IS NOT IN IT, HE MAY OPT OUT.
