CRYING OUT IN THE STORMS OF LIFE

It may be momentary, situational, or it may be a season.

We all experience times of stormy weather, when in desperation, the only thing we can do is cry out to God. When you feel like you’re sinking, & you’re about to come undone, there’s only One worth calling on . . .

We see much of this in the Psalms, so rich in examples of prayer for such occasions.

We also find many promises from Scripture that will bring us through. These are most helpful to cling to, declare, speaking in prayer what God has already told us, reinforcing His Word, & our own faith in HIS WORD.

Clinging, crying out, seeking relief, desperation . . . .

STUDY CORNER will look at models of prayer for these.

READ, STUDY, MEDITATE on the following passages:

Psalm 25:15-18

15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord,

For He shall pluck my feet out of the net.

16 Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me,

For I am desolate and afflicted.

17 The troubles of my heart have enlarged;

Bring me out of my distresses!

18 Look on my affliction and my pain,

And forgive all my sins.

Psalm 29:11

11 The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.

Psalm 86:1-3,6,7

1 Bow down Your ear, O Lord, hear me;

For I am poor and needy.

2 Preserve my life, for I am holy;

You are my God;

Save Your servant who trusts in You!

3 Be merciful to me, O Lord,

For I cry to You all day long.

6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;

And attend to the voice of my supplications.

7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon You,

For You will answer me.

Psalm 130:1,2,5

1 Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;

2 Lord, hear my voice!

Let Your ears be attentive

To the voice of my supplications.

5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,

And in His word I do hope.

Psalm 143:1,4

1 Hear my prayer, O Lord,

Give ear to my supplications!

In Your faithfulness answer me,

And in Your righteousness.

4 Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me;

My heart within me is distressed.

ISAIAH 43:1,2,7-9

1 “Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by your name;

You are Mine.

2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.

When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,

Nor shall the flame scorch you.

7 Answer me speedily, O Lord;

My spirit fails!

Do not hide Your face from me,

Lest I be like those who go down into the pit.

8 Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,

For in You do I trust;

Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,

For I lift up my soul to You.

9 Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies;

In You I take shelter.

Jeremiah 32:27

 27 “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?

Genesis 28:15

15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”

Psalm 27:5,13,14

FEATURING IRINA MCLEAN PHOTOGRAPHY

5 For in the time of trouble

He shall hide me in His pavilion;

In the secret place of His tabernacle

He shall hide me;

He shall set me high upon a rock.

13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed

That I would see the goodness of the Lord

In the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord;

Be of good courage,

And He shall strengthen your heart;

Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Deuteronomy 31:8

8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
