PRAYER GUIDE, “O CANADA,”  01.07.19

Father, I do so thank You for this beautiful, bountiful land that You have provided for us. It is so rich, with varying, and volumptuous land forms, so vast, and unrelenting. Think of it – how many countries can boast of landforms that include everything from desert areas, to mountains, to tundra, and sandy ocean beaches? Rich in cultural heritage, as well as multiple resources, Canada is a land of opportunity.

SPRUCE MEADOWS, CANADA DAY, 2014

I thank You for the rich heritage You’ve given us, Lord, whether we’ve all (or always) appreciated and respected it or not, it is there, & ours to claim, if only we all would. I pray that we would take back the land, and surrender it to Your domain, that You may maintain Your dominion over us, as our founding fathers declared that: “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth” (Ps.72:8).

Grant that we, as a nation, by the leadership of Godly leaders would once again honour You in our land, through how we live our lives, through how we conduct ourselves as a people. It grieves my heart, as I’m sure it grieves Yours, for how far we as a nation have strayed from our original values and beliefs. God forgive us for having strayed; forgive us for misusing our resources, our freedom, our privileged position in this world, and for having failed to have made the best of what we have.

Forgive us, that because of slothfulness and greed, instead of developing our own resources to the fullest extent, because of compromising our own beliefs and freedoms, which You gave us, we have evolved into a much lesser position internationally than what You made provision for us to become. Forgive us for taking the easy way out (sloth), for fear of losing out, for fear of taking risks, and sacrificing long-term gain, for short-term benefits (greed, wanting everything our neighbours had immediately, unwilling to wait till we could provide for ourselves;

“O CANADA . . … .”

comparing ourselves to others, rather than moving forward on the basis of what You had made available to us for ourselves as a nation).  Forgive us for not having been grateful for that which You provided, & moving forward on the basis of what we were given, rather than comparing ourselves to our neighbours, coveting/lusting after everything they would have before we did, yes, greed, coveting, lusting, and slothfulness. Father, forgive us . . . .

“O Canada! Our home and native land!” may we honour and reverence what God has given us, show that true patriotic love as You would have us do. May we “With glowing hearts” take pride in rebuilding our nation into what God Almighty intended and has given us the resources to do and be

Let us preserve our “True North strong and free!” maintaining our own traditions, guarding, protecting and maintaining our boundaries, “God keep our land glorious and free!” and make us a people who will “stand on guard for” our nation, stand on our own two feet, relying on YOU, Lord. May we be grateful for the marvellous gift You have given us in what we have in this land called “Canada.”

“O Canada, may we stand on guard for thee!”

My heart cries out for my nation; God, keep our land, glorious and free!

Bless our land, Father. I pray You’ll not give up on us. Bring us leaders that will implement Your JUSTICE & follow YOUR LAWS, in Jesus/Yeshua’s Holy Name. Amen.
