WHEN MESSIAH RETURNS, 24.05.19

WHEN MESSIAH RETURNS, 24.05.19

The prelude to Messiah’s return is the Great Tribulation which God will use to bring judgment upon the nations who have rejected and persecuted God’s people, the Jews, throughout their history. This judgment culminates in the final destruction of all who oppose Yahweh and His people. That is the first outcome of Messiah’s return: the annihilation of Israel’s enemies. The second outcome will be the setting up of the Millennial Kingdom, the thousand year reign of Messiah, when there will finally be lasting, ongoing peace and prosperity.

Jesus/Yeshua described this time when He prophesied:

Matthew 24:

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand),

16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.

18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.

19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!

20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.

21 For then there will be GREAT TRIBULATION, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

Although many choose to negate, ignore, and deny this period of time, it surely will come, for these are the Words of our Saviour, Lord, King, Master, and Messiah Who is coming to bring justice, and judgment and He will:

Rev.2: 27

‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron;

They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’—

Rev.19:15,16

15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Many have been led to believe that God’s mercy and grace is going to cover everyone in the end; but that is not what His very own Word tells us at all.

When Messiah returns the line has been drawn. Whoever has not believed in Him/followed Him is subject to severe judgment.

“I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land” (Joel 3:2).This is the first outcome: that God will bring justice to the wrongs worked against the Jews; and He will use supernatural intervention to achieve this: “For behold, the Lord will come with fire and with His chariots, like a whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by His sword the Lord will judge all flesh; and the slain of the Lord shall be many” (Isa. 66:15,16). The final battle, often referred to as the battle of Armageddon, Then the spirits gathered the kings to the place called in Hebrew Har-Megiddo” (Rev.16:16, TLV). (Mount Megiddo in the Jezreel Valley, known as Armageddon, the gathering place for all the nations who will come against Israel in the final battle which will actually occur in Jerusalem, not Megiddo).

When Yeshua came to earth, born as a human, while at the same time being fully God, when Messiah returns, He is coming in judgment, bringing with Him a heavenly army to defeat the enemy here on earth. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Rev.19:14-16). This will bring an end to the time of tribulation, and usher in the Millennial Kingdom.

“Assemble and come, all you nations, And gather together all around. Cause Your mighty ones to go down there, O Lord. Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; For there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations. Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow—For their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun and moon will grow dark, And the stars will diminish their brightness. The Lord also will roar from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens and earth will shake”(Joel 3:11-16).

Although none of us can claim to know how this will all actually play out, what form it will take, or what it will really look like (although there are those who claim to know), for it has not been revealed, what we do know is that God Almighty will supernaturally clean up the earth before He proceeds with the Millennial Kingdom: “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up” (2 Peter 3:10); “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth” (Isa.65:17). Since God Almighty doesn’t owe us any explanations, there are those happenings that, without knowing the details, or being able to understand the “hows, wherefores, whens, whats, and whys,” we simply need to accept as part of our faith in The One Who holds the deck and has the key to His master plan. What we do know, is that He will make some radical and drastic changes before He proceeds “to rule with a rod of iron” (Rev.19:15).

For Yahweh’s chosen people, there are special blessings: “For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing, And her people a joy. I will rejoice in Jerusalem, And joy in My people” (Isa.65:18,19). “As one whom his mother comforts, So I will comfort you; And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem”(Isa.66:13). God promises protection and total safety for His people: “But the Lord will be a shelter for His people, And the strength of the children of Israel” (Joel 3:16). And His people will also know who He is: “So you shall know that I am the Lord your God, Dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. Then Jerusalem shall be holy, And no aliens shall ever pass through her again”(Joel 3:16,17). No individual or nation will be persecuting God’s chosen ever again!

God promises prosperity and long life during the Millennial Kingdom: “No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; For the child shall die one hundred years old, But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed. They shall build houses and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; They shall not plant and another eat; For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain, Nor bring forth children for trouble; For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, And their offspring with them. It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear” (Isa.65:20-24). These are special blessings throughout the 1,000 years, and not before. People’s life span will be considerably increased, living for hundreds of years, if one hundred years is considered to be part of childhood. Everything people do will bear fruit; nothing will be done in vain. God’s purposes will have been achieved.

For those who have believed in and followed Yeshua, Jew and Gentile alike, Messiah has good things: “Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream” (Isa.66:12). A picture of the Millennial Kingdom includes: “The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, Nor the voice of crying. . . . .The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, The lion shall eat straw like the ox, And dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain” (Isa.65:19,25). “And it will come to pass in that day That the mountains shall drip with new wine, The hills shall flow with milk, and all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water; a fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord and water the Valley of Acacias” (Joel 3:18). During the thousand year reign of Messiah on earth, those that are His “shall reign with Him a thousand years and all will live under Messiah’s rule in peace for one thousand years” (Rev.20:6). This one-thousand-year reign will be a special time of peace and prosperity, unknown to mankind in any previous time.

On one hand, the outcome of Messiah’s return is the bearing of judgment, the meting out of punishment, for those who have rejected Him and mistreated His chosen people; on the other hand, it is a time of special blessing for all who have been faithful to Him. So for those of us who know Messiah as our Lord and Saviour, we should welcome with joy His coming; we should be praying for Him to come quickly, to usher in that time of total peace and prosperity, when we get to rule and reign with Him, for “He has made us to be kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen” (Rev.1:6), and bring an end to the evil on this earth, “for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness” (Isa.26:9).
