PRAYER GUIDE, “LOVING YOUR ENEMIES,” 06.05.19

Father, Yeshua, give me YOUR HEART that I may love the unloving and the unloveable; that I may love those who hate/curse me. Bring me to that place of maturity, whereby I may “grow up in all ways into Messiah, who is the Head” (Eph.4:15), thereby being able to show Your Love even to those who revile, despise, and curse me.

Eph.4:15

By the power of Your Holy Spirit, enable me to “love my enemies and pray for those who persecute me,” (Matt.5:44). I know that You give good things even to those who do not recognize you as their God; and if You treat Your enemies with kindness, then I must choose to do likewise, so that I may be Your child” (Matt.5:45). But I also know that this is not possible in my carnal flawed flesh. Transform me, as I daily surrender that flawed flesh, choosing to nail to the Cross of Christ each flawed piece of flesh as it manifests, bringing me to that place where I am ready for solid food, “For anyone living on milk is inexperienced with the teaching about righteousness—he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who through practice have their senses trained to discern both good and evil” (Heb.5:12-14).

Teach me how to pray for those who are reviling, condemning, judging, criticizing, gossiping, slandering, making false accusations against me, cursing me. I want Your heart, so I may “be perfected, just as You, Yeshua/Father are perfect” (Matt.5:44-48), that I can have a heart like Yours to pray for my enemies and ask for the blessings of heaven to be visited upon them. By Your Holy Spirit may You convict them of their evil ways, and bring them to You.

When people are hurtful and offensive, speaking in error, teach me to “speak the truth in love” (Eph.4:15), instead of attempting to get even, for I must leave vengeance to You (Rom.12:17-19). Teach me to respond assertively, rather than aggressively when individuals are unkind, aggressive, dominating, or offensive. I choose to respond to anger and lashing out with speaking the truth in love, with kindness, treating that one as I would want them to treat me (Matt.7:12) if I were in the wrong, which I also often am. Make me to learn how to “overcome evil with good,” (Rom.12:20,21).

Phil.3:12

Teach me to do as Paul, and “press on to take hold of that for which Messiah Yeshua took hold of me  . . . . I press on toward the goal for the reward of the upward calling of God in Messiah Yeshua. . . .   let me mature and have this attitude; and if I have a different attitude in anything, You will reveal it to me, and convict me. May I live up to the same standard I have attained,” (Phil.3:12-16), and continue to grow into greater depths, coming higher and closer to emulating what You have taught me in Your Word, by Your example.

Yeshua, there is none like You. How I yearn and long to be like You.

In Your Holy Name, Amen.
