JOHN 17:20

I DO NOT PRAY FOR THESE ALONE, BUT ALSO FOR THOSE WHO WILL BELIEVE IN ME THROUGH THEIR (the disciples’)  WORD.

JESUS/YESHUA WAS PRAYING IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE THE NIGHT BEFORE HIS CRUCIFIXION. HE WAS PRAYING HERE, NOT FOR HIMSELF, BUT FOR EVERYONE ELSE.

HE PRAYED FOR HIS DISCIPLES. HE PRAYED FOR THOSE WHO WOULD BECOME HIS FOLLOWERS DOWN THROUGH ALL THE CENTURIES YET TO COME – THOSE WHO WOULD BELIEVE IN HIS WORD, AND WALK WITH HIM.

WHAT A LESSON IN INTERCESSION!

PERHAPS WE WOULD DO WELL TO FOCUS LESS ON OURSELVES IN PRAYER, AND TO PRAY FOR THE LOST SOULS OF THIS WORD. PERHAPS WE NEED TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THOSE FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS, COLLEAGUES, ETC., WHOM THE LORD IS LAYING ON OUR HEARTS, AND PRAY THEM INTO THE KINGDOM. PERHAPS WE ARE CALLED TO “PRAY THROUGH” SITUATIONS AS THEY ARISE. WHATEVER IT MAY BE THAT IS SHOWN TO EACH OF US INDIVIDUALLY IS WHAT WE NEED PAY ATTENTION TO.
