EPHESIANS 4:31

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

THIS CHAPTER IS A TEACHING BY PAUL OF HOW TO LIVE AS FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST JESUS/YESHUA HA-MASHIACH.

HE IS OUTLINING CLEARLY SPECIFIC EXPECTATIONS OF APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR OF THE “NEW MAN.”

IF WE ARE GOING TO CALL OURSELVES FOLLOWERS OF JESUS/YESHUA, WE CANNOT BE CARRYING GRUDGES, BACKBITING, HATING, LYING, PARTICIPATING IN SEXUAL IMMORALITY, ETC. HE POINTS OUT IN THE PRECEDING VERSE THAT THESE THINGS GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD, AND SHOULD NO LONGER BE PART OF WHO WE ARE.

THERE IS FAR TOO MUCH OF THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOUR AMONGST GOD’S PEOPLE  AND IT CAN HARDLY BE A TESTIMONY TO THE WORLD. UNLESS GOD’S PEOPLE PUT AWAY SUCH THINGS – EVIL SPEAKING, BITTERNESS, ANGER, MALICE – HOW CAN WE EXPECT TO WIN UNBELIEVERS TO CHRIST? MAY WE ALL TAKE PAUL’S TEACHING TO HEART AND CORRECT ANY SUCH PRACTICES.
