PRAYER GUIDE: “CONVICTION VS. CONDEMNATION,” 13.02.19
Father, I pray for all followers of Jesus/Yeshua to overcome their fearful obsession with avoiding conviction because of confusion with condemnation. I cut off that confusion now, in Yeshua’s Name.
I pray You would dispatch Your Holy Spirit to bring revelations that will bring new understandings to replace all such needless irrational fears with a hunger to be alerted by Your Spirit for every single wrong thought, desire, action, interaction, or inaction, so that they would be able to abide in that secret place, walking in oneness with You, walking in the Spirit, shining Your LIGHT, sprinkling Your SALT, emitting Your Sweet Holy Fragrance. May each one come to realize that obedience to conviction brings forgiveness, cleansing, healing, and transforming freedom.
Bring that Damascus experience (Acts 9) that Saul/Paul had that was forever life-changing. For although Paul initially wrestled with his flesh, he was not wrestling to hang onto it; he was wrestling to get rid of it, until he won the victory and was able to say: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God” (Gal.2:20). Let us wrestle to wrest that flesh from our minds, wills, and emotions, until we can likewise say, “it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” taking authority over the flesh, and walking in victory.
Fill Your people with an insatiable hunger, an unquenchable thirst, and yearning to be like Jesus/Yeshua, with a revulsion of the flesh, rather than an unholy, and unsavory desire to defend it and hang onto it. I pray that all Your people would become so offended by the stench, the ugliness, and the filth of their own flesh that they cannot move fast enough to put it to death at the Cross of Yeshua.
Bring each one to that place of desire to know & to face the Truth, to embrace the Truth and WALK IN IT (John 8:32) so that each one can be set FREE. Bring each to that place wherein they will embrace Rom. 8:1-4, instead of running away/denying the conviction that should be welcomed. I pray that attendance to the alert of the Spirit through conviction, would become as automated as the response to the flashing red warning lights on the dashboard that come on in our vehicles to alert us when something in the vehicle’s system needs immediate repair.
Bring such a pure heart of surrender that the true heart’s desire would be to “not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit,” (Rom.8:1,4), and therefore not be intimidated by those words anymore, but welcoming of them.
Oh, Father, make us quick to respond to conviction and go down on our faces before You, for “If we confess our sins, You are faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). And “If we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. . . . If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us” (1 John 1:8,10). Bring us to complete freedom from self-will, freedom from our rebellious sin nature, so that YOUR DESIRE would become our only desire; that we would be able to say from the heart:
8 “O Lord, we have waited for You;
The desire of our soul is for Your name
And for the remembrance of You.
9 With my soul I have desired You in the night,
Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early;
For when Your judgments are in the earth,
The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness” (Isa.26:8,9).
I cry out for that degree of conviction – the conviction that would bring automatic obedience; the conviction that would make all of us DESPERATE to be RID OF THE FLESHLY LUSTS, DESIRES, etc. and eradicate all desires to defend and preserve it; and instead be zealous to give it all up, surrendering it all to YOU. In Jesus/Yeshua’s Holy Name, I pray. Amen.
