WHAT ABOUT POLITICAL CORRECTNESS? PART 1, 03.01.19

What about political correctness? Was Jesus/Yeshua politically correct?
Yeshua called a spade a spade; He didn’t hold any punches; He didn’t mince any words. He didn’t fuss and fret and walk on eggshells for fear of offending people. He didn’t placate to people’s over-sensitivities. He was anything but politically correct. This is not to say He was unkind or insensitive. He simply didn’t cater to any special interest groups, or attempt to placate in order to gain favour among men.
Yeshua could get quite annoyed with His disciples at times, and didn’t mince words with them either: When Philip asked Him to show them the Father, one can detect His exasperation when He responds with: “Have I been with you for so long a time, and you haven’t come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own; but the Father dwelling in Me does His works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe because of the works themselves” (John 14:9-11). In modern idioms: “for crying out loud, don’t you guys trust me after all you’ve seen me do; after all the time I’ve spent teaching you; can’t you see who/what I am??!! What on earth more do I need to do??!!” Again, when it was reported that they had been unable to cast out a demon, he said: “Oh faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him to Me” (Mk.9:19). Then, “O you of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves . . . . You still don’t get it? Don’t you remember . . . . . . How is it that you don’t understand that . . .” (Matt.16:8-11), He admonishes His disciples for their lack of faith, their faltering memory and inability to connect the dots between previous miracles and the multiplication of the loaves/fishes.
He was blunt and direct, not mincing words, when Peter, chiding Him, that He couldn’t possibly be killed by the chief priests, tried to dissuade Him from His mission: “He rebuked Peter. He said, “Get behind Me, satan! You are not setting your mind on the things of God, but the things of men” (Mk.8:33). I’m sure that His admonishments at these times were quite shocking to them. He was identifying that a wrong spirit was working through Peter; something His followers need to take notice of.
In response to the Sadducees regarding the question of whose wife would a woman be, in heaven, after having successively married several brothers, upon each one’s death: “But answering, Yeshua said to them, “You’ve gone astray, because you don’t understand the Scriptures or the power of God” (Matt.22:29). He did not attempt to appease anyone. He simply presented the Truth. We also can glean from this, that in heaven there is no need of “marriage;” people will be cleansed and purged of carnal sexual and emotional romantic desires; there will be purity and a oneness with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; after all, if we are to become HIS BRIDE, we cannot be “one” with another. What a foolish notion it is to think that one would be married to anyone else upon arrival in heaven! What nonsense to think that we will have the same silly carnal desires and needs!
“Then Yeshua entered the Temple and drove out all those selling and buying in the Temple. He overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those selling doves. And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of thieves’!”(Matt.21:12,13). He was not concerned with offending anyone because He was doing what was right. I wonder what He would do in today’s churches and conferences, with all the CD’s, DVD’s, books, etc. . . . people – God’s people – looking to everything but His Word for their answers. More believers than ever before are currently replacing His Word with books, CD’s, DVD’s, conferences, training sessions, programmes – anything and everything but the Word of God.
In today’s society, political correctness in the church would never allow the righteous anger and principled behaviour modelled by our Lord and Saviour. It would be considered negative, judging, offensive. He would likely be evicted. Today we must try to please everyone, and offend no one. Yeshua had a different focus. He was focussed on speaking the Truth, getting His message out there: “ I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6). That is not politically correct today. The word sin has pretty much been deleted from most Christian circles; and the Name of Jesus or Yeshua is offensive to many. It is also politically incorrect to speak of Jesus/Yeshua as the only way – that is considered arrogant, and offensive. Watered down Gospel messages give nice warm fuzzy feel-good material that have great crowd appeal. But Jesus/Yeshua did not cater to the masses; He did not water down His message to obtain followers. He was not politically correct when He said: “because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to spew you out of My mouth” (Rev.3:16); and nor would He join the ranks of the politically correct if He were here today, for when He comes back He is coming back to judge; and the politically correct, lukewarm professed Christians will be subjected to that judgement.
